Oily Skin Can Be Cleaned Up Best with Natural Treatments That Open Up Your Pores and Unblock Clogged Sebum and Dead Skin Cells

by Gerald Steinert

Acne problems will usually be accompanied by oily skin. The reason for this relationship between oily skin and acne is that oily skin produces more sebum than other skin types and is therefore more prone to clogged pores and acne lesions.

The best way of dealing with this problem is to establish a regular cleansing routine. With mild to moderate cases of acne (facial and back acne), a regular cleansing routine can be more effective than over the counter acne creams. However, keep in mind that severe forms of acne should be monitored and treated by a medical professional.

How to Cleanse Oily Skin

If you have oily skin you can use a soapy cleanser. However, stay away from soaps because they can dry out your skin and are in no way comparable to soapy cleansers. The drier your skin is the more likely it will break or crack and let in acne bacteria.

A soapy, gel cleanser is perfect for your acne skin, especially if that product contains salicylic acid or retinol. What these ingredients in effect serve to accomplish is the balancing out of the rate of the shedding of skin cells. It also helps to keep debris from clogging up the pores.

Despite most people thinking otherwise, you can try a natural acne remedy if you have oily skin. A great natural cleansers for oily skin is milk of magnesia. It's quite simple to use, all you need to do is rub it on your skin and rinse off.

Toning and Exfoliating Your Skin

What a toner will do for you is to help balance out your complexion. Keep in mind though that it might not be that necessary provided your cleanser is already effectively removing your makeup, residue, and extra sebum. If you do decide to use a toner, then make sure that it is alcohol-free.

Unlike toning, you should exfoliate regularly to help remove any stubborn debris. The amount of times you exfoliate will depend on your age and skin condition, however, the norm is usually once a week. To exfoliate simply choose a scrub or use a product that contains salicylic acid.

The different between those two exfoliation techniques is that scrubs are mechanical exfoliants and salicylic acid is a chemical exfoliant. Both types of products are a good option, but which you choose will depend on your preferences. Of course, never forget to moisturize your skin even if you have oily skin!

Just because you have oily skin, do not assume that it does not require a moisturizer. Oily skin's problem is that there is too much oil. Not too much moisture. With this in mind, look for a moisturizer that is oil free and apply it twice a day.
